IS RISK ALWAYS A BAD THING?

When you think of the word ‘Risk’ you might think it means the same as ‘danger’, but risk is really about uncertainty. Uncertain situations could be dangerous, but they could also be oppurtunities. Risk is the effect of uncertainty on objectives. We see risk as adding & protecting value to your organisation.

Resilience is the ability to recover from a disruption and continue operations. Resilient organisations recover faster and more efficiently. Resilient people are able to draw on inner strength, to bend not break in the face of adversity, and overcome the challenges thrown at them. The overarching principle is about absorbing and adapting to change.

Risk is very much related to reward. Often the bigger the risk the bigger the reward. But of course with Risk comes challenges. Resilience training is about preparing for the challenges that will inevitably come and how to move forward with the least harm all the while learning the lessons within. To become evermore resilient strong risk management foundations are required.

People are the most important asset in any organisation. But understanding each other can prove one of the most difficult tasks of all. What motivates them, what discourages them and how do we get the best out of each other? Learning about ourselves and others to mitigate problems is the basis of People Resilience. At KRisk we use the Discovery, a value metric tool which helps measure an individual’s risk profile, which can be used to help build a better risk culture amongst other uses.

Risk and reward are closely related. We’ve all heard of high risk investments. These could make us a lot of money or potentially lose everything. The rewards are there but also the pitfalls. Like a master investor we can learn when to take the right risks and when not to using the correct processes.
